The Civic Theatre Guild has announced auditions for their production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” will take place from 6 – 7 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9, at the Carriage House Theater at 419 Delphi Ave.
According to a release, “It’s a Wonderful Life” is an adaptation of the classic holiday film starring James Stewart. It tells the story of George Bailey, who is rescued from an act of despair by an angel named Clarence, who takes George on a magical and introspective journey through time.
Adapted for the stage by Philip Van Doren Stern, this version of the story is told in the manner of a classic 1940s radio play, in which the actors all read the parts from scripts into the microphone, and the environment around them is created by sounds provided by a group of foley artists, and even by the actors themselves.
The production will be directed by Ian Cannon-Wallace, who has indicated that anyone planning to audition only needs to show up on one night of auditions, and according to the release, do not need to be too worried about memorizing parts; rather be ready to tell a good story.
The production will take place in the evenings on Dec. 7, 8, and 9, 2023, and an afternoon matinee on Dec. 10.
