The Brinton Museum, Big Horn, announced Oct. 20 that on November 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m, their Fall into Art will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the novel “Broken Trail,” the story of the AMC 2006 mini-series of the same name, starring Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church.

Guests Presenters will be author and screenwriter Alan Geoffrion, and Artist and Illustrator Lloyd Kelly.

“Two cowboys — one old the other young, set off to seek their fortune driving a herd of horses across the West. Before long they find themselves risking everything to save five kidnapped Chinese girls from a life of prostitution.

“Thus begins an epic and perilous journey that changes forever the fates of these young girls, their unlikely guardians, and the other characters they meet along the way.” This is the story of Broken Trail, a story with a connection to the historic Quarter Circle A Ranch which is the heart and soul of The Brinton Museum.

In the book, the horses rounded up from across the West were brought to the Scotsman William Moncreiffe, and his brother Malcolm, to be sold to the British Cavalry for use in the Boar War in South Africa. In reality, some 20,000 horses were purchased by the Moncreiffes and sold to the British.

The book, Broken Trail, is generously illustrated by internationally-known artist Lloyd Kelly who has exhibited his work around the world. Kelly has exhibited widely in galleries and museums in the United States, Europe, Japan, and China.

Author and screenwriter Alan Geoffrion is a U.S. Navy veteran and a former school teacher. Geoffrion wrote the screen play for the 2006 popular mini-series Broken Trail, starring actors Robert Duvall and Thomas Haden Church.
