With increased boating traffic, The Wyoming Game and Fish Department announced Aquatic Invasive Species watercraft inspection stations are operating with expanded summer hours in the Sheridan Region.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Game and Fish Public Information Specialist Christina Schmidt said the department is making every effort to ensure the public has access to inspectors as often as possible.
The locations to have a boat inspected also include the Sheridan Travel and Tourism Center on 5th Street in Sheridan – Open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Northeast Wyoming Welcome Center in Beulah – Open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Gateway Travel Center in Newcastle at the corner of highways 85 and 16 – Open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
The Wyoming Game and Fish website also includes a map that displays inspection locations throughout the state, should residents wish to travel elsewhere to enjoy boating. Find that here.
Schmidt said most boaters in Wyoming understand the need to have their boat inspected and support the effort to keep AIS out of the Cowboy State’s waters. Due to their small size during infant stages in their lifecycle, many boaters may not even realize they are transporting mussels from one water body to another.
