After an injury or surgery, healing can be a long, painful and frustrating process. In some cases the need to move, stretch or strengthen the injured or newly constructed tissue is required. Physical Therapy can be difficult and painful, Sheridan Memorial Hospital Wyoming Rehabilitation Physical Therapist Dr. Charlotte Walter and her team work with patients to not only make it all worth it, but also quick and effective.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Dr. Walter spoke on the long list of PT services offered through the rehab clinic, specifically the Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (PFD) program.

Dr. Walter’s interest in PFD stretches back to the beginning of her education. Many times, patients may believe the symptoms of the dysfunction are something they have to learn to deal with for the rest of their lives, but Dr. Walter said before surrendering, she and her team would like to help.

According to the National Library of Medicine, the causes of pelvic floor dysfunction are not well understood. No specific inciting event or factor has been generally identified as a cause of PFD, but multiple factors have been discussed. PFD is attributed to a variety of conditions, such as, gynecologic, urologic and colorectal conditions.
