Over 200 seniors graduated from Sheridan High School on Sunday, May 28. The ceremony was held on the SHS football field, and the stands were packed with parents and well-wishers.

SHS Spectrum sang the National Anthem, and Principal Scott Cleland gave the welcome address. He encouraged the students to

The class motto was, “When life gives you lemons, eat them, that’s free food,” and many of the speakers talked about making the life you want after high school.

Cameron Reckard was one of the salutatorians, and president of the senior class. He performed the Passing of the Brand ceremony, in which he passed the branding iron to Presley Granum, the president of the junior class.

He said this about the tradition

Aidan Moran was the second salutatorian, and he had this to pass on to his fellow students.

Salutatorian Kyle Rockwell played a musical selection on the recorder and talked to the students about finding passion in life.

The valedictorian was Catherine Kuehl. She asked the graduates “What do you want to be when you grow up,” and talked about some of the lessons that were never attached to a school grade.

Brent Leibach was selected by the students to give the address, and he said he had never heard better student addresses. He added that he ‘loved the recorder’ and that was one of the greatest things he had ever seen at a graduation.

He told the graduates, don’t just find a job. Most people who have jobs, don’t really want to go to work. “Find your passion. Know the difference between passion and a job.”

He added, “Those people in your life, who have been there unconditionally, please listen to them.” he said. “Find people in your life you know will help you, they are people that you trust. There is plenty of advice to follow. Stay with those people you have been with through your life. Your inner circle will change, but understand what your inner circle means.”

The class song was “Good Old Days” by Macklemore, (feat. Kesha) the class colors were sapphire and silver, and the class flower was the Indian Paintbrush.

Tassels were turned and mortarboards were thrown in the air at the end of the ceremony.
