Change the batteries along with changing the clock

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan Fire and Rescue Chief Gary Harnish gave a lifesaving reminder to the public, change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
In many cases, people change the batteries in their smoke detectors the same day they must change their clocks during daylight saving time.
The Fire Chief said residents that may not have any or enough smoke detectors due to cost, can call the Fire Station and receive them due to a partnership with the Red Cross. Sheridan Fire and Rescue will also install these detectors for residents. Harnish told listeners that one smoke detector should be on the ceiling of every bedroom in the house.
For those residents that cannot change the batteries on their own due to disability, age or other reasons, Sheridan’s firefighters are happy to assist.
