Sheridan County’s Commissioners have voted to ratify a letter to Governor Mark Gordon and the rest of the State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) asking for consideration of the funding application for the emPath & Crisis Stabilization Unit that is proposed for Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

In the letter, the commission explained they were disappointed that the SLIB had not approved funding for the project, which was applied for under Chapter 42 grant funding, which would have supplemented HHS funding already approved by the SLIB.

The county’s plan, according to the letter, was to split the funding request for the project between the two separate ARPA funding blocks.

The letter further explained that the county believes the most cost-effective solution for Sheridan and the region is to renovate an existing patient care area within the hospital for the treatment and care of behavioral health patients.
