Kinskey Discusses Governor’s Funding for Proposed Projects

State Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan, Johnson Counties), in his weekly talk from the legislative session, discussed a program and funding that has more or less been under the radar that could end up being very lucrative if it brings proposed projects to the state.
He explains more about what Governor Mark Gordon has requested from the legislature and why.
Some of the projects that Kinskey highlighted are the hydrogen hub project, which he said would replace declining oil, gas, and coal revenue should it come to Wyoming.
Another is the proposed Natrium plant that could be built near Kemmerer.
A third option is a plant to refine uranium, which he said again makes sense because Wyoming is a leader in uranium mining.
Finally, he cited GBSD or Ground Based Strategic Defense, which could also be a Wyoming-based project.
Kinskey said there is a lot of Federal grant money available for these types of projects but the states need to have match money for them.
According to Kinskey, the Senate voted to add another $160 million to that fund, but the House instead put that money into permanent savings, which he said he was torn over because although he believes in the match program, he also sees the value of saving those funds.

“Kinskey said there is a lot of Federal grant money available for these types of projects but the states need to have match money for them.” Wyoming must be flush with money, since Kinskey co-sponsored a bill (SF166) to give some southern states 5.5 million dollars to help build a border wall. Really? Texas has over a 30 billion dollar budget surplus. I don’t think they need Wyo money. Geesh, Kinskey, talk about fiscally irresponsible. Luckily for us, the bill got shot down like a proverbial Chinese balloon.
