Kinskey Explains Gender Treatment Bill

State Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan, Johnson Counties), in his weekly talk on the legislative session Wednesday, was asked about SF111, which sets change of sex treatments for those under 18 as child abuse.
The bill was passed by the Senate.
If passed by the legislature, it will basically set the legal age for gender transformation surgery and/or other gender treatments at 18.
Kinskey explained the bill further.
According to Kinskey, there is evidence showing most, if not all pre-teens and teens go through a period of trying to figure out who and what they are, and sometimes doubt their gender identity.
But there is growing evidence that the doubts are not necessarily a “natural” phenomena but a social contagion.
Kinskey said studies conducted by the Swedish National Health Service has prompted bans all but the most extreme cases for gender treatments, based on evidence that it is a social contagion phenomena and that many teens that go through the treatments later regret it and want it reversed.
He said the bill does allow treatment when there are medical exceptions.
Kinskey was asked if this bill was a government over reach, and he said, “No, I don’t believe so. I think it’s protecting children.”

Its not overreach because Kinskey says its not overreach?? How is interfering with parental, family, and individualized medical advice not overreach? Who knows a child’s situation better than parents, family and their medical providers? Who’s closer and more aware of a person’s life circumstances? Politicians? I think there may well be a social contagion here – leading arrogant, ignorant and narrow minded politicians to “protect” us even though they have no medical expertise or personal experience with this condition. Certainly Kinskey and fellow pols “protecting” our children is NOT freedom from government overreach.

check in with extensive work by the Mayo clinic on the incredibly complex nature of human sexuality- it’s waymore complicated than “me Tarzan, you Jane”.

Come on Guys !!! What is the problem?? Republican state legislators all across the nation are taking away our rights. Women’s right to decide about their own bodies. Ban Books they think should not be in local libraries and making librarians serve prison terms if those books are found in their libraries. Laws against teachers teaching history and human sexuality that they don’t approve of and probably haven’t read. Restricting our right to vote for the candidate we want, based only the voter’s political party membership. Losing these rights seems to be OK with Republican voters as long as these legislators don’t touch the sacred 2nd amendment. So, really guys what is the problem, after all they know what is best for us. RIGHT???

Absolute ignorance. If they bothered to ACTUALLY RESEARCH the topic, they would know that children have to have verification from therapists, doctors, specialists (endocrinologists, etc.) before they are even CONSIDERED for hormone blockers, which isn’t even allowed until after puberty. And hormone blockers are completely reversible.
No hormones are allowed until they’ve continued on hormone blockers, continual therapy (of which a therapist has to write a letter of recommendation), & continuous follow up appointments with doctors. Woeful ignorance…
It’s funny how the same people who complain about government overreach then support government overreach…
