Wyoming 211 has announced that Saturday Feb. 11, is 211 Day, celebrating the go-to resource 211, which helped 2,703 people throughout the state of Wyoming access help for immediate or long-term challenges last year.

According to a release, Wyoming 211 trained Community Resource Specialists connected people to locally available services, including help with rent, food, utility bills, transportation, and health care. Last year, approximately 21% of callers needed resources for utility assistance and 16% of callers needed help with healthcare.

Dialing 211 is free and confidential. The 24-hour information and referral service connects all Wyoming residents with health and human services support. Anyone can call 211, visit their website at Wyoming211.org or text their zip code to 898211 to reach a trained 211 specialist. In 2022, the service received 3,759 calls, which included texts, chat and website messages from Wyoming residents.

“People reached out to 211 this year to find information on basic needs, like rent or utility assistance, transportation services, or to find the closest food bank. They also called for everyday information like where to get dental care or how to locate job training or find free tax filing support,”  Executive Director of Wyoming 211 Sabrina Lane said.

A vast amount of statewide information is available through the service, including basic human needs resources, physical and mental health resources, support for Wyoming’s senior, disabled and veteran populations, financial stability and employment support, transportation, community crisis or disaster relief care and support for children, youth, and families.

Launched in February 2011, Wyoming 211 is a statewide helpline and website which provides free, confidential, health and human services information and referral. By dialing 2-1-1, visiting the website at wyoming211.org or texting your zip code to 898211, Wyomingites can connect to information about local resources from government, faith-based and nonprofit agencies.
