cvannoySCSD#3 business manager Greg Rohrer chats with Senator Kinskey
At the Wednesday November 9 SCSD#3 school board work session. Wyoming State Senator Dave Kinskey talked to the board about school funding, and the need for more funding.
In a brief interview after his talk to the board, he said that he emphasized two key points.
The second point he talked about was some of the funding challenges smaller schools face.
The board chairman, Amy Vineyard, swore in Wade Betz as the re-elected board trustee, Karis Pursak, newly elected to the board, was not in attendance.
At their regular meeting, the board discussed purchasing new folding tables for the multipurpose room and discussed the district’s rental houses. There were varying opinions about the school being a landlord, and Trustee Chris Schock felt that teacher housing was a good thing for the school and the town.
The board discussed annual superintendent review, with Trustee Wade Betz saying he felt the review was difficult due to the fact that Superintendent Chase Christensen hadn’t been in the district that long.
The board also approved the hiring of Mike Buss as Maintenance/Custodial employee; approved the letter of resignation from Katie Hepp, who was the business office assistant/clerk; and approved Bo Benth as the high school boys basketball coach.
Christensen reported on the MAP Reading Fluency Data and the MAP Accelerator Data as well. He also talked on growth vs achievement and Profile of a Graduate. He also encouraged board members to visit the school and interact with the students.
Next meeting will be on December 14 at 7 p.m.
