The Wyoming Republican Party has selected the 3 finalists to be the Secretary of State until the end of this year, and a Sheridan man is among them.
Sheridan County Republican Chairman Bryan Miller along with Karl Allred and Marti Halverson, were the 3 that received the most votes, during Saturday’s (September 24th) Wyoming Republican Party special meeting held in Pavillion.
Miller lost in the primary for House District 51 this past August, by 143 votes to incumbent Cyrus Western.
Allred is from Evanston and has run unsuccessfully 4 times in House District 19.
Halverson was a House member from 2013 until 2019 in District 22, which includes portions of Lincoln, Teton and Sublette Counties.
Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has until Thursday (September 29th), to select who will replace Ed Buchanan who recently resigned to become a district court judge in Torrington, and chose not to run for re-election.
Current State Representative Chuck Gray won the Republican nomination for the Secretary of State position, and is running unopposed in November’s General Election, however under the Wyoming Constitution, he can not be appointed to fill the vacancy and will have to wait until January 1st, unless a write-in candidate defeats him in November.
