Work on the Acme Power Plant Reclamation Project recently received some financial support from within Wyoming.
The Sheridan County Conservation District was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Wyoming Community Foundation, by way of the Sheridan Area Opportunities Fund and the Wyoming Community Foundation’s Sheridan-Johnson area Local Board.
The grant was used to support outreach and coordination efforts associated with the Acme Power Plant Reclamation Project.
The funds from the Wyoming Community Foundation which were awarded last year, specifically supported personnel time and expenses associated with the development of a successful EPA Cleanup Grant and participation in the National Brownfields Training Conference.
The grant also funded coordination of public meetings, website updates, and other outreach activities.
The Acme Power Plant Reclamation Project is a community effort to address environmental and safety concerns at the former Acme Power Plant located along the Tongue River.
The purpose is to make the site is suitable for public use in the future.
