The Sheridan County Library System and the Friends of the Library will hold the second annual Storybook Festival and Fun Run beginning at 7:30 a.m. until noon on June 25, at Whitney Commons Park.
The goal of this free family friendly event is to bring awareness to the Sheridan County Library System branches and to encourage literacy for all ages while fundraising for the libraries.
The day will begin with a pre-race yoga session on the lawn with the family fun to follow. Participants can walk or run the 1 mile or 5K while dressed as their favorite storybook character.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program Friends of the Library board member Mary McDougall told listeners this event was created for the whole family.
Vendors will be on site, AJ Longhurst will become “The Amazing AJ” to perform magic and local authors and librarians will be reading at Story Times throughout the day.
Friends of the Library board president Susan Dewald informed listeners that if they would like to get a T-shirt for participation in the run, pre-registration is key and the deadline is fast approaching.
Race check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m. Cost to take part in the Fun Run is $35. Prizes will be awarded for top times in the 5K and best costume categories as well as best tandem costume.
