Depending on the amount of traffic and which way they’re going, motorists could now have an easier time getting through one of Sheridan’s busier intersections.

At around noon on Wednesday (May 18th), the traffic light at the intersection of 5th Street and Sheridan Avenue became operational.

WYDOT says the signal will give relief to travelers making left hand turns during peak travel times they encounter daily.

Construction crews also removed the previous sidewalks and installed American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks, as well as removed and replaced trees and removed and replaced the concrete paving at the intersection.

The removal of the trees should increase the site distance for motorists.

Crews are finishing up a few smaller projects at the intersection and will remove construction cones and barrels in the near future.

Elsewhere on 5th Street, work is underway on the city’s beautification project.

Work is anticipated to continue into November.
