Morning Sports: September 21, 2026
Sheridan HS Football: The Sheridan High School Football team overcame 3 turnovers, and scored with about 2:45 to go, to win their homecoming game this past Friday vs. Kelly Walsh 24-21.
The Broncs are now 4-0, the win streak is now at 59 and the home win streak is at 35.
There are 2 undefeated teams remaining in Class 4A and they are scheduled to play each other this Friday as Sheridan visits Natrona County.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.

Big Horn/Tongue River/Buffalo HS Football: Big Horn had an easy time at home vs. Glenrock 55-7.
The Rams next play on Friday at Moorcroft.
Tongue River gave up a touchdown with a little more than 1 minute remaining, and lost at home vs. Newcastle 12-7.
The Eagles next play on Friday at Wheatland.
Buffalo lost at home vs. Powell 14-6.
The Bison next play on Friday at Lander.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Volleyball: Sheridan lost on Saturday in a 4A Northeast Quadrant game at Thunder Basin 3-1.
The Lady Broncs are next scheduled to play on Thursday at Kelly Walsh, as well as on Friday and Saturday at the Casper Invitational.
Big Horn won on Saturday at Wright 3-zip.
Tongue River won both at Buffalo on Friday and at home vs. Newcastle on Saturday 3-nothing.

This coming Thursday, it’s TR at BH.
Since the 2 teams are now in 2 different classes, this is the only time this season that these 2 teams will play each other.
Wyoming High School State Golf: Addison Bettinger of Buffalo would repeat as 3A Girls State Champ this past weekend in Torrington.
The Lady Bison finished as 3A Girls State Runners-Up.
On the 3A Boys side, Buffalo was 4th, thanks to Bryson Kolb and Wyatt Coldiron finishing 4th and 10th respectively.
Easton Lewis of Tongue River finished 9th.
In Class 4A, Parker Reiger of Sheridan finished in a 4-way tie for 4th at the state meet in Evanston, while Hannah Barnes was 7th.
Golfers who finish in the top 10 automatically get all-state honors.
As for the 2A State Meet, which is what Big Horn is competing in, that meet is tomorrow and Wednesday in Evanston, with Kemmerer serving as the host team.

Sheridan HS Tennis: The Sheridan boys were 3rd and the girls were 5th at the North Regional Meet this past weekend at Gillette.
Regional champs are Christian Laman and Lawson Woodrow in boys #2 doubles, as well as Andrew Wei and Michael Hodnett in boys #3 doubles.
The state meet begins this coming Thursday in Gillette.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Cross Country: Sheridan hosted the Michelle Ludwig Invitational this past Saturday at the Sheridan VA.
Eli Balkenbush of Sheridan and Kyla Marney of Big Horn won the boys and girls races respectively.
Meets this weekend for the Sheridan and Johnson County teams are scheduled to take place at Worland and a few are going to a meet in Mesa, Arizona.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Girls Swimming and Diving: Sheridan won a pair of home dual meets vs. Thunder Basin and Kelly Walsh, while Buffalo placed 2nd at the Worland Invitational.
The Sheridan Pre-Invite and Sheridan Invitational are scheduled to take place this coming Friday and Saturday.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split weekend road games in Montana, losing at Helena 4-1 and winning at Great Falls 3-2.
The team is scheduled to play its home opening games this coming Friday and Saturday vs. Bozeman.
The puck drops in both games at 7:30pm.
College Football: The Wyoming Cowboys were run-over so to speak this past Saturday at Central Michigan, losing 24-10.
The opposition rushed for 339 yards.
UW Quarterback Tyler Hughes was 14 of 30 passing for 173 yards, but also threw 2 interceptions.
Markell Holman scored the lone touchdown on the ground for the Pokes, while Erik Sandvik kicked one field goal.
Wyoming is now 1-2 on the season and starts Mountain West Conference play this coming Saturday at home vs. Hawaii.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm.
As for Montana State, they improved their record to 4-0, by winning a close game at home vs. Central Connecticut State 35-30.
Sheridan High School grad Dane Steel caught 4 passes for 62 yards, including a 31 yard touchdown.
The Bobcats start Big Sky Conference play this coming Saturday at home vs. Northern Arizona.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30pm.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos evened up their record at 1-1, thanks to a 20-13 win yesterday at home vs. Jacksonville.
The 4th quarter made the difference as Denver scored twice to pull ahead.
Quarterback Bo Nix was 22 of 31 passing for 288 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
Catching that 1 TD was Nate Adkins, while Jonah Coleman scored from the ground.
Will Lutz kicked 2 field goals.
The Broncos next play in the Sunday night game this weekend at home against the LA Rams.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:20pm.
Colorado Avalanche Pre-Season Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won their first pre-season game at home vs. Utah last night 4-1.
The Avs are back in action today in another pre-season game at Winnipeg.
The puck drops at 6pm.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at home vs. Seattle.
The Mariners won on Friday 5-4, the Rocks won Saturday’s game 5-3, but Seattle won the rubber game yesterday 2-1.
Hunter Goodman provided the 1 with a solo home run.
This week is the last week of the regular season.
Colorado has today off, and has 6 games remaining on the schedule, starting tomorrow with a 3-game series at home vs. Arizona.
The Rockies have to win all 6 games to avoid a 100-loss season.
