SCLT Discovery Session: Traditional Knowledge of Native Plants

Sheridan Community Land Trust will partner with Piney Island Native Plants and the Bighorn Native Plant Society for a special SCLT Discovery Session exploring traditional knowledge of native plants and the connections between people and the land.

The program will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 6–7:30 p.m. in the SCLT Community Rooms at Big Goose Natural Area, 14 Lane Ln., Sheridan.

Linwood and Randall Tall Bull, members of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, will share knowledge passed down across generations about native plants and their important roles in the lives, traditions and culture of the Northern Cheyenne people.

The presentation will extend beyond plants to include oral stories, traditional tools and weaponry, ancient skills and other knowledge and traditions that help illustrate relationships between people and the landscape.

The Discovery Session is free and open to all. Registration is encouraged.
