High School National Finals Rodeo 2025: Round 2 of the High School National Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs is halfway complete and there’s still one Sheridan County Cowgirl in the running for a National Championship.
Bleu Butler of Big Horn is scheduled to have her second run in Goat Tying this morning, and if her total on 2 puts her in the top 20 after tomorrow morning, then she will be invited to compete in the championship short-go tomorrow evening.
As for the other North-Central Wyoming competitors, Kolby Smith of Sheridan ended up going 0-for-2 on his bull rides.
In the Reined Cow Horse Competition, Cooper Justus of Parkman and James Foss of Buffalo both had 2 runs in the event and are both outside of the top 20.
Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers still control their own destiny as far as securing the #4 seed for this year’s AA State Tournament.
The team has to win both games on Sunday at Rock Springs to get it.
If Sheridan splits, that could drop them to the #5 seed, and if the Troopers lose both that could drop the team to #6.
The AA State Tournament starts on Monday, July 28th at Cheyenne.
Before that, Sheridan will play their home finale next week Wednesday as the team will host the Billings Expos for a double-header.
University of Wyoming Football: In ten days the Wyoming Cowboy Football Team starts practice for the upcoming 2025 season.
Last year, the Brown and Gold went 3-9 in Head Coach Jay Sawvel’s first year at the helm.
Speaking at this year’s Mountain West Conference Media Days, Coach says he takes his share of the blame and in particular was that the team was lacking depth at certain positions, especially when the injury bug decided to visit.
The Pokes kickoff their season on Thursday, August 28th at Akron.
The home opener is on Saturday, September 6th vs. Northern Iowa.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The season resumes for all teams today now that the All-Star break is over.
The Colorado Rockies will start a 3-game home series vs. Minnesota.
First pitch today is scheduled for 6:40pm.
Tomorrow’s game is scheduled for 6:10pm, and Sunday’s game at 1:10pm.
On Monday, the Rocks will start a 3-game home series vs. St. Louis.
