Sheridan WYO Rodeo: It’s rodeo week in Sheridan and although the first rodeo performance isn’t until Wednesday, some of the competition starts today.

The slack round for steer roping is this evening at 6 o’clock at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds, as well as tomorrow at 8am.

Barrel racing slack is at 6pm tomorrow.

Wednesday morning at 8 are the slack rounds for Team Roping, Tie-Down Roping, Steer Wrestling and Breakaway Roping.

As for the rodeo performances themselves, they start at 7pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the World Champion Indian Relay Races.

Pink night is Thursday and Red night is Friday.


Sheridan Troopers Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers went 4-0 in home games played during the course of the 4th of July weekend.

On Thursday, the team swept a conference double-header vs. Jackson 4-zip and 10-zip.

In the first game, Avon Barney and Garrett Lamb combined to toss a 3-hit shutout.

In game 2, Tanner Hamrick, Will Greer and Aaron Baures combined for a 2-hit shutout, while Blaine Phillips left the park on his own. 

On Saturday, Sheridan swept a double-header vs. Cody.

Scores were 16-4 and 10-nothing.

Owen Mathews tossed a complete game 5-inning 1-hit shutout in the second game.

Troopers Head Coach Austin Cowen says the team is starting to get some of that momentum back and some of the reserves got some playing time as well.

Sheridan is back in action today as the team hosts a conference double-header vs. Laramie, beginning at 3pm.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost 2 out of 3 games this past weekend at home vs. the Chicago White Sox.

The opposition won on Friday 3-2 and on Saturday 10-3.

In the latter game, Brenton Doyle hit a solo home run for Colorado.

The Rocks avoided the sweep yesterday winning 6-4.

Mickey Moniak hit a solo home run, plus had a 2-run triple, while Michael Toglia provided a 2-run blast of his own.

The Rockies start a 6-game road trip today, with a 3-game series at Boston.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:10pm.
