Dane Steel Of Sheridan HS Signs Football NLI For Montana State: Wyoming’s 4A offensive and defensive player of the year will join his big brother on the college football field.

Dane Steel has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play football at Montana State.

This past season he had 970 yards receiving, but he found ways to score in all facets of the game.

Steel caught 9 TD passes, ran in 8 more, returned 6 punts, 2 pick 6’s and 1 kickoff return for scores.

He was named a unanimous all-state selection as a wide receiver, defensive back and return specialist.

Steel says there were 2 reasons why he chose MSU.

His older brother Brock Steel just finished his redshirt freshman season with the Bobcats.

Dane is also a 2-time Wyoming High School State Champion wrestler and a 2-time All-American.

He adds it was a tough choice between wrestling and football, but he feels he made the right choice.

Steel says he is considering a major in civil engineering.


Mountain West Conference Football Bowl Games: Three Mountain West Conference teams will play in their respective bowl game tomorrow.

Two of them start at 1:30pm.

The Potato Bowl has Utah State vs. Georgia State and the Armed Forces Bowl has Air Force vs. James Madison University.

Then at 8:30pm tomorrow it’s the Hawaii Bowl as San Jose State plays Coastal Carolina.

On Tuesday, UNLV will play in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl at 7pm against Kansas.

The Wyoming Cowboys will play one week from tomorrow in the Arizona Bowl against Toledo.

Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 2:30pm.


University Of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys lost last night in the championship game of the Sun Bowl Invitational vs. the host team, UTEP, 78-67.

Mason Walters led the Pokes with 16 points, while Akuel Kot put in 14, Sam Griffin and Brendan Wenzel each contributed with 11.

It was a physical game as 51 fouls were called between the 2 teams, but in the end, UW only shot 34% from the field compared to UTEP 48%.

The Cowboys also could not stop Zid Powell who scored 32 points.

The Brown and Gold are now 8-5 on the season and play their final non-conference game one week from tomorrow at BYU.

Meanwhile the Wyoming Cowgirls defeated Wright State 71-61, at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Tournament.

Allyson Fertig led the way with 21 points, while Tess Barnes added in 19.

The Cowgirls shot nearly 53% from the field, while holding the opposition to 36%.

Wyoming plays again in Las Vegas today vs. Eastern Washington at 1pm.

This is the final non-conference game for the team.


Arvada-Clearmont High School Basketball: The Arvada-Clearmont varsity split a pair of games in Sheridan against the freshman teams, with the Lady Panthers getting the W.

A-C will be back in action on January 12th and 13th at the Little 6 Invitational at Dubois.


Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos play in the Sunday night game on Christmas Eve at home vs. New England.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:15pm and you can hear the game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

Denver is 7-7 on the season with 3 games remaining and are currently 1 game back of a wild card spot in the AFC.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won at home last night vs. Ottawa 6-4.

The Avs’ next game is tomorrow at home vs. Arizona.
