Sheridan College Holds Grand Opening for New Health Facilities

The Grand Opening of the new Kim and May Kay Love Dental Hygiene Clinic and the B.F. & Rose H. Perkins Health Science Center was held on September 7 at Sheridan College.

Dr. Walt Tribley, Sheridan College President, talked about the donors and the many people who made the new addition possible. Tribley said that when he first came to the college in 2019 the project was already on the books. It took several more years to bring the project to completion.

“What you have done is created a facility that is on par with the excellence that happens in the classrooms,” Tribley said.

Kim and Mary Kay Love are well known in Sheridan for their philanthropy. Many Sheridan residents knew Kim Love for many years when he ran several Sheridan radio stations, including KROE.

Love had this to add about the health programs.

Senator Dave Kinskey was one of the attendees, and he talked about Sheridan College and the local donors.

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors were on hand at the ribbon cutting, and J.T. Grainger, of Sheridan Pilots 307 Flight School, had this comment.

Sara Beres director of the dental hygiene program and assistant director of nursing services Tobie Alsup each said a few words about their programs and how the new facilities would help them and their students.

Students and facility were on hand to answer questions about the new rooms and the new equipment for the students.

Elizabeth Maguire, CNA (Certificate Nursing Assistant) and Medical Assistant program instructor at Sheridan college said about the CNA and MA room, “This is our new space, we have all new equipment, all new manikin for our students, this is just fabulous space.” The life-like manikins give students hands-on experience in patient care scenarios. She said that the MA program is new this year.

In the dental hygiene rooms, chairs were set up with manikin heads to give students a feel for doing dental care on ‘patients.’

Around 300 people, including the Health Science and Dental Hygiene Students, attended the ribbon cutting ceremonies, and took tours of the new facility.
