A Sheridan High School Track and Field athlete has made the “jump” to the collegiate level.

Preslee Moser has signed her letter of intent to compete as a high jumper and triple jumper at Colorado Mesa University.

In the high jump, she was the indoor state runner-up this year and last year and was 4th last year at the outdoor state meet.

She also placed 4th earlier this year in the triple jump at the indoor state meet.

Moser says it was jumping coach Art Bauers that encouraged her to get into one jumping event, and then assistant AD Brick Cegelski encouraged the other.

“Bauers was like ‘you’re super tall and you can play volleyball so I think you can high jump,’ and then once I started high jumping Cegelski was like ‘you can jump, come try triple jump,’ and then it all just fell together.”

Moser says she is considering majoring in physical or special education.

Colorado Mesa University is an NCAA Division 2 school in Grand Junction, that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
