Sheridan 3-on-3 Hoop Jam 2024: Sheridan High School was a basketball mecca of sorts this past weekend.

It was the Annual 3-on-3 Hoop Jam as teams were put together to play the half-court style game.

Soon-to-be 8th grader Jackson Martini of Sheridan Junior High says there’s a number of differences between the style of 3-on-3 compared to 5-on-5, besides the difference that’s most obvious.

Soon to be 8th grader Bryce Mowry, also of Sheridan Junior High says some players take the 3-on-3 game seriously and others play for fun.

About 75 teams competed in this year’s Hoop Jam event.

Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers won 4 out of 5 games this past weekend at a tournament held at Rapid City, South Dakota.

On Thursday, Sheridan beat Laramie 13-2.

On Friday, the Troopers split games as they lost vs. Harrisburg, South Dakota 7-5, then recovered to beat Rapid City Post 320 11-3.

On Saturday, the team defeated the Rapid City Post 22 Expos 11-7, then concluded the weekend with a win yesterday vs. the Rapid City Post 320 Shooters 10-zip.

The last 2 wins were essentially against the secondary teams of both Rapid City Posts.

Sheridan is now 18-11 on the season and now it’s time to get down to some serious business.

Conference play starts tomorrow at 3:30pm, with a home double-header vs. 4-time defending Wyoming AA State Champion, Cheyenne Post 6.

The Sixers have won the State Championship in 20 of the past 23 seasons.

They are also last year’s AA Northwest Regional Champions, thus they became the first Wyoming team in history to qualify for the Legion World Series.

On top of that, Cheyenne made it to the National Semi-Finals.

Again, tomorrow’s home double-header starts at 3:30pm.

It will also be little league day at the games.

All kids who show up in their jerseys get a free hot dog and get to come onto the field to be recognized in between games.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies ended up dropping 2 out of 3 games at the LA Dodgers.

On Friday, Ezequiel Tovar had 3 hits, including a solo home run to help the Rocks win 4-1.

Then the offense took the rest of the weekend off.

The Dodgers won on Saturday 4-1, and yesterday 4-zip.

Colorado returns home today to start a 3-game homestand vs. Cincinnati.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40pm.

NHL Playoffs: The Stanley Cup Finals are set.

Back on Saturday, Florida defeated the New York Rangers 2-1, to win the Eastern Conference Finals 4-games-to-2.

Last night, Edmonton scored twice in the first period and held on to defeat Dallas 2-1, to win the Western Conference Finals 4-games-to-2.

What this means is that the #1 seeds in both the East and West have been eliminated.

It will be the Edmonton Oilers vs. the Florida Panthers in a best-of-7 series for Lord Stanley’s Cup.

Game 1 is scheduled for this coming Saturday at Florida.
