News ReleaseStudent-athletes from the Sheridan College Women’s and Men’s Rodeo Teams delivered impressive performances at the Pat Hamilton Memorial rodeo.
The event, held over the weekend at Sheridan County Fairgrounds, showcased nine athletes finishing in the top ten for Sheridan College, and several continued to rise in their regional rankings.
On the Women’s Team, barrel racer Maci DeHaan secured a third place finish in the average with a total time of 35.29 seconds.
DeHaan clocked 17.80 seconds in her first run and improved to 17.61 seconds in her second run, moving her to seventh in the regional standings.
Fellow barrel racer Sierra McGregor placed seventh in the average, with a combined time of 35.87 seconds, clocking 17.80 seconds in her first run and 18.07 seconds in her second.
In Goat Tying, Josie Johnson placed eighth in the average.
She posted times of 8.0 seconds in the long go and 7.9 seconds in the short go.
In Breakaway Roping, Faith Heim had a strong showing, finishing third in the average with a total time of 9.4 seconds.
Heim recorded 4.1 seconds in the long go and 5.3 seconds in the short go, placing her 9th in the region.
Taylor McGregor secured a sixth place finish in the average for breakaway roping, after an outstanding 3.2-second long go, which was the fastest time of the weekend.
On the Men’s Team, Jake Schlattman impressed in saddle bronc riding, placing second in the average with a total of 155 points.
He scored 78 points in the long go and 77 points in the short go, moving him up to third in the region.
Fellow saddle bronc rider Colter Martin placed seventh in the average with 122 points, scoring 56 points in the long go and 66 points in the short go.
In Bull Riding, Aidan Ruby earned top honors, winning the second round and average with an 82-point ride.
Ruby’s win currently sits him fourth in the regional standings.
Trenton Sheehan had a solid weekend in Steer Wrestling, finishing fourth in the average with a total time of 15.8 seconds.
Sheehan clocked 9.1 seconds in the long go and 6.7 seconds in the short go.
Currently, the Sheridan College Men’s Team sits seventh place in the regional standings, while the Women’s Team is currently in eight place.
Looking ahead, teams will compete at Laramie County Community College’s rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyo., on October 11–13.
