Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball Team was victorious yesterday in their first game of a tournament at Rapid City, South Dakota.

The team scored 8 runs in the 4th inning to put the mercy rule on Laramie 13-2.

Cael Hamrick had 3 RBI’s and Frankie Maestri pitched a complete game 4 innings.

Today the Troopers play Harrisburg, South Dakota, and Rapid City Post 320, back-to-back starting at 2pm.

Tomorrow, it’s one game vs. the Rapid City Expos at 7:30am.

Sunday’s opponent is to be announced.

Also at the tournament is Cheyenne Post 6, who the Troopers will play a home double-header against this coming Tuesday.

Coach Austin Cowen says taking into consideration that Sheridan has played a lot of games, both last weekend and this weekend, he’s making sure that the team doesn’t wind up exhausted when Tuesday’s conference opener rolls around.

In case you didn’t know how big Tuesday’s double-header is, Cheyenne Post 6 is the 4-time defending state champs and have won 20 of the last 23 Wyoming AA State Titles.

They are also last year’s AA Northwest Regional Champs, thus they became the first Wyoming team ever to qualify for the Legion World Series.

On top of that, they also made it to the National Semi-Finals.

First pitch for Tuesday’s double-header is scheduled for 3:30pm.

It will also be little league day at the games.

All kids who show up in their jerseys get a free hot dog and get to come onto the field to be recognized in between games.

Sheridan 3-on-3 Hoop Jam: Tomorrow and Sunday, the Sheridan High School parking lot will become a basketball metroplex of sorts.

The annual 3-on-3 Hoop Jam Tournament will be played as roughly 75 teams will play on some of the 20 courts that have been painted on the lot.

Normally a basketball game is 5-on-5 and while one might think playing 3-on-3 on a half court is a little easier, Sheridan High School Activities Director Kasey Garnhart says, no it’s not.

Games are scheduled to begin tomorrow and Sunday at 9am.

NBA Playoffs: The Dallas Mavericks advanced to the Finals, by winning Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals last night at Minnesota, by a score of 124-103.

It will be Dallas vs. Boston in the NBA Finals.

Game 1 will be played next week Thursday at Boston.

NHL Playoffs: Florida picked up a big road win last night in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers 3-2.

The Panthers now lead the series 3-2.

Game 6 is tomorrow at Florida.

Tonight is Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, between Edmonton at Dallas.

That series is tied up at 2 wins each.
