Sadly, Earl Leroy “Bud” Prill, 72, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 3rd. He was born in Sheridan, Wyoming to Mary Francis Leadbeater Prill and David Franklin Prill on October 1, 1948. He was raised on the family ranch just outside of Ranchester, Wyoming which after his parents passed became his permanent residence. The second of four boys, he had an idyllic childhood growing up hunting, fishing and raising mayhem on the Tongue River. He graduated from Tongue River HS, served in the Army National Guard and married the love of his life, Teri (Bortle) Prill. They had two sons, John and Gary. He worked for the family business; Prill Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning as a sheet metal specialist and a roofer. He was a whiz at anything done by hand. If you needed or wanted it, he could build it and make it happen! Bud could be stubborn but was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. Even as a teen, he saved his cousin from drowning in the irrigation ditch on the ranch. A man of many talents, he was incredibly generous with his time and anything anyone needed. He grew a prolific garden and enjoyed canning and making salsa; sharing the spoils with everyone. He baked cookies for friends and family and any recipient was eager for the next batch. But his greatest feat was his sausage that everyone in the family fought over who would be in on the next batch! His woodworking skills were unsurpassed; and every grandchild, grand niece and nephew and great grandson have caterpillars, Monsters Inc. piggy banks, dollhouses and trains to cherish forever. He and Teri had great fun hosting family and friend get-togethers. Everyone would bring their camper and camp in the “back forty” to be part of the fun. They had ladder golf tournaments and even designed a nine-hole golf course on the property! The parties were capped off with a barbecue complete with his famous “Buddy Burgers”. Beer was never in short supply and everyone ate heartily and reminisced about days gone by and funny family stories. Bud was a very patient teacher, teaching his nieces and grands, fishing and hunting. He helped one niece bag her first deer. When it came to any of the family’s children, he was a softy! He was a very inclusive and caring friend. When the house next to his sold, a young man from Laramie moved in. Bud immediately took him under his wing, teaching him all he needed to know about the property and its care. They became such close friends, he was treated like part of the family and he ate dinner with Bud and Teri more often than not. He loved his yearly trips fishing in Canada with his brothers at Prill Lake Lodge. No one could cook walleye like Bud.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his son John and his granddaughter Brittany. He leaves behind his loving wife Teri, son Gary, granddaughter Stephanie and her son Brody, grandson Stephen (Rachaneekorn), and brothers Dan (Margie), Ray (Jan), and Charley (Mary), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Life without Brother Bud (and his Budisms) will never be the same. We will miss his smile and his belly laugh. He will be in our hearts and memories forever. No services will be held at this time. A celebration of Bud’s life will be held in the spring.
