County Awards Design Contract for Sheriff/Coroner Project

During their Tuesday meeting, Sheridan County’s Commissioners voted to award the contract for architectural and engineering design for the project to renovate the sheriff’s office basement and the new county coroner building to Arete Design Group.
County Administrative Director Renee Obermueller explained that the county issued a Request For Proposal (RFP) for the project, which she detailed.
Obermueller said the county for many years has utilized a funeral home as a makeshift coroner’s office because in the past the coroner was also the funeral home director.
The new coroner’s building is planned to be erected on lands on the sheriff’s office property adjacent to the evidence building.
Schedule One design, the basement remodel, will cost just over $24,000.
Schedule Two design, the coroner building addition, will cost slightly less that $63,000 for a total cost for architectural and design work of nearly $87,000.
