The now former mayor of Gillette has resigned her position.

Former mayor Louise Carter-King resigned Thursday night (January 6th), one week after former city administrator Patrick Davidson sent city council members, staff and others, a 400-plus page report of messages exchanged between himself and Carter-King, between November 2019 and June 2020.

Among the messages were comments in reference to Gillette city officials, Campbell County officials, along with various employees and private residents.

Carter-King was elected mayor in 2014, and was re-elected in 2018.

Her position is up for election this year.

Davidson was city administrator from late 2017 until February 2021.

It is unknown if he resigned or was terminated from his position.

The Gillette City Council has postponed the selection of a new mayor, until the next regular council meeting on February 1st.

Nathan McLeland will take over as mayor until then.
