Gillette Felon Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking and Firearm Charges

A Gillette man recently changed his plea on a number of charges in Federal Court. Sheridan Media’s  Ron Richter has the details.

United States Attorney for the District of Wyoming Bob Murray announced Friday that 31-year-old Preston Ray Wisenbaker of Gillette pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and a felon in possession of a firearm. Wisenbaker entered the guilty pleas at a recent hearing in front of Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson. Sentencing has been set for February 24, 2022. Wisenbaker was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 20.

For his conviction of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, he faces 5 to 40 years’ imprisonment. For his conviction of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking, he faces no less than 5 years to life consecutive imprisonment, and for his conviction of felon in possession of a firearm, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment. This crime was investigated by the Gillette Police Department, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
