COVID-19 report, Federal workers report more than 90% vaccination rate on Biden’s deadline

Sheridan County added 20 lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the total count to 4,356 lab confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
Also over the weekend, another 12 probable cases have been reported. That total now stands at 1,335.
Currently there are 96 active cases in the Sheridan County Community and 55 deaths of Sheridan County residents attributed to COVID-19.
There are currently eight patients in the hospital fighting the virus. COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves reports 33 residents have recovered from the virus over the weekend.
The Associated Press reports more than 90% of federal workers received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by Monday’s deadline set by President Joe Biden.
The President announced in September that more than 3.5 million federal workers were required to undergo vaccination, with no option to get regularly tested instead, unless they secured an approved medical or religious exemption.
The deadline is a test of the Biden Administration’s push to compel reluctant citizen’s to get vaccinated. The administration has emphasized that vaccination is the nation’s surest way out from the pandemic. Beyond the federal worker rule, his administration is looking to compel large businesses to institute vaccinate-or-testing requirements that would cover more than 84 million workers, though plans for January enforcement have been on hold pending litigation.
Many Republican governors, including Wyoming’s Gov. Mark Gordon has given the authorization for the Wyoming State Attorney General to file suits in response to the mandates. The conclusion to the Wyoming Special Session was the passing of a bill creating a $4 million fund to be set aside for the State Attorney General to use for that future public litigation.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists Sheridan County’s level of community transmission of COVID-19 as HIGH.
