The Emergency Department at the Johnson County Healthcare Center (JCHC) has been recognized as a “Pediatric Receiving Facility” by the Wyoming Department of Health’s Department of Emergency Medical Services.

Haley Odenbach
, Ed Nurse and Manager at the JCHC, gave a brief presentation to the hospital board at their last meeting, saying she has been working on the designation for awhile, and it was granted earlier this year.

Odenbach said the healthcare center staff was already trained and were performing all of the requirements for the designation, so it just made sense to officially go after the recognition.

She said the designation is good for five years, but there are things she and the healthcare center must do to keep updated and to work toward re-accreditation as aPediatric Receiving Facility.

According to a previous release from the JCHC, the recognition means the ER is equipped with the required specialized tools, training and preparedness for children receive the best care possible.

The Wyoming Department of Health’s Pediatric Recognition program ensures services, equipment, disaster preparedness and staff competencies are in place in a facility that may treat an acutely injured or ill child in the state.
