WebmasterLocal mountain climber Darren Rogers is set to climb the 5th peak of his journey to complete the 7 Summits. Rogers is en route to Antarctica to conquer Mt. Vinson which will require that he take a just over 16,000 foot high jaunt. Rogers said that the mountain is not technically challenging but the environment definitely is. If all goes to plan, Rogers will have summited and started his trek home before the end of January.
The seven summits are the highest points of each continent. Rogers started this challenge by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa back in 2010, followed by a 2016 completion of Mt. Everest in Asia. He completed South America’s Mt. Aconcagua in December of 2018 and earlier this year in May he visited Europe’s tallest peak of Mt. Elbrus. The remaining two summits are Denali in North America and Carstensz Pyramid in Australia.
