The Sheridan County School District Two Board of Trustees at a special meeting Monday approved an updated COVID-19 plan that includes a mask requirement for students, staff, and visitors inside of all school and district buildings. In response to that decision, a local group of concerned citizens will host a meeting tonight in Sheridan. Concerned Citizen Aaron Linden provides the details.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 7 tonight in Council Chambers on the third floor of Sheridan City Hall.

It would be nice if the general population was actually given facts about masks. The government has completely failed the population about information. And the media is doing worse to the population with its propaganda. Masks that literally work and I quote a study “ high-efficiency masks, such as the KN95, still offer substantially higher apparent filtration efficiencies (60% and 46% for R95 and KN95 masks, respectively) than the more commonly used cloth (10%) and surgical masks (12%)”. People running around with a dirty cloth over their face while outside like the virus is being spread by trees. Driving around wearing a mask when it does nothing. And my favorite having a Full on beard with a mask, when you’re supposed to be clean shaved. Watching people repeatedly touch it, pull it under their nose, or pull it down to cough and sneeze. People not knowing the difference between masks, or their usage. It’s turned into complete political statement, and nothing to do with safety.

If surgical masks don’t work why do surgeons wear them during procedures. I guess their just making a political statement.

So you recommend that the SCSD2 provide a good supply of those surgical masks for the kids?

Try a little experiment titled ‘cover your cough’. Take your walmart style mask and exhale onto a mirror with it on, and see how much water vapor shows up on the mirror. Then cover your mouth with your hand and cough in it while holding up the mirror just behind it, and see how much water vapor shows up on the mirror. Compare the two, and judge for yourself which method works the best.

The problem with the masks, as other doctors have pointed out, is that the masks atomize your exhaled breath which allows the smaller droplets to remain in the air longer instead of larger droplets from a maskless exhale that will disperse to the ground faster via gravity. The atomized droplets would tend to spread the virus faster since they can stay in the air longer for others to breath, or migrate to a larger surface area for many hands to touch.

        Disinformation? No, science.

No, they are trained on the proper use and application of wearing masks, and they are already in a sterile environment. To conflate mask useage in a surgical setting with that of the common use of masks by the general public just isn’t a realistic comparison.

Duh, to prevent spit or snot. Does nothing for a virus.

Masks will help even without “training” and fit testing. I’ve been fit tested for many different respirators and scba through my career and never heard of anyone not passing. I’ve passed on Drager, MSA and Scott using both the regular and large masks, just an example that they are pretty much foolproof. Training for usage is a slide show and if I didn’t view the dumb thing I’m pretty sure I could figure out how to put on a mask, as could anyone else. The only argument against masks is you don’t like being told what to do or you don’t think you should be told what to do. That’s fine I don’t wear a mask because I don’t want to. But saying they don’t work or people aren’t trained in their use is silly. It is just a mask if you can’t figure out how to wear it, well then if covid doesn’t get you something else will.

It is 100% correct masks, are ineffective if not worn properly. even worse, a virus is 300 times smaller than a particle the masks are designed to stop. Why do you think they wear full suits with clean oxygen provided in a lab with viruses? Because just a cloth mask won’t stop a virus. Heck, everyone wearing masks dissing us for not, better put on goggles too! Because your eyes are in infection point. But they claim this is about health. No, it isn’t. A mask with 12% Efficiency, and having a full beard, and no goggles. Sounds real protected.

These comments are off target on the issue at hand, we don’t care about your evaluation on the efficacy of any type of mask, our concern is that our children are being burdened with a problem that should be handled by us…you know, the supposed adults in the community. Any one of us can stroll into any store or public venue in this community without a mask (which is how it should be), the same cannot be said for a kindergartner. That’s a problem. If you disagree, you are the problem.
