COVID-19 claims another life as numbers fluctuate in Sheridan County

Today the Wyoming Department of Health confirmed the death of a Sheridan County resident attributed to COVID-19.
According to the release, an older adult male died in late July. He had health conditions recognized as putting patients at higher risk of serious illness related to COVID-19.
This brings the number of Sheridan County resident deaths to 33.
In the descriptions, “older adult” includes those over 65. Additional information about this person is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Deaths among Wyoming residents are added to the state’s coronavirus-related death total based on the location of a person’s permanent residence and official death certificate information. If death certificates do not describe COVID-19 as either causing or contributing to a person’s death, those deaths are not included in Wyoming’s count of coronavirus-related deaths.
According to Sheridan County COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves, the county has added another eight positive lab confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. This brings the total of cases in the county since the pandemic began to 2,727.
Currently 56 of those cases are active in the county with an additional 27 active probable cases. In the last 24 hours, 17 patients have recovered from the virus.
Currently, five patients are hospitalized in Sheridan County suffering from the virus.
