Sheridan WYO Rodeo 2022 Royalty Competition Underway

Events at this year’s Sheridan WYO rodeo officially “kicks off” this coming Tuesday (July 13th), but the competition has already started for next year’s rodeo royalty.
Contestants vying for the 2022 titles of Sheridan WYO Rodeo Queen, Senior Princess, Princess and Junior Princess have started their 2-day process of interviews, horsemanship, appearance and congeniality.
Since there was no rodeo last year, because of the COVID pandemic, those who were supposed to represent the royalty were allowed to carry their titles over to this year.
Hannah Jost of Sheridan is the current Senior Princess, and will soon have to hand over her crown to her successor.
She says the competition is a combination of skill, beauty and brains, and offers a few suggestions for current and future contestants.
“You want to stay confident and don’t use gap words like umm and if and yeah, so umm…if…like I just used, but if you just stay confident and answer the questions directly, and if you don’t know a question and just say I don’t know this at the time, and come back to it later, they’re going to see that you know your knowledge and you’re ready to be a princess.”
The winners will be crowned on Saturday, July 10th, and again the following Saturday at the final rodeo performance.
