Yellowstone National Park announced Wednesday that the East Entrance to Lake Village (Sylvan Pass) and Lake Village to Canyon Village will open to public motorists at 8 am Friday weather permitting. Due to a significant snowpack in the Sylvan Pass area, park rangers will continue to monitor avalanche conditions and motorists should be aware that temporary road closures may occur.

Conditions permitting, the South Entrance to West Thumb, Lake Village to West Thumb and West Thumb to Old Faithful roads are scheduled to open May 14. The road between Tower-Roosevelt and Canyon Village is closed for the 2021 season. Since conditions can change quickly in and around Yellowstone, especially during spring and fall, park officials encourage people to visit their website to check on the latest weather conditions and road closures.
