The third and final public forum for candidates for the district superintendent position for Johnson County School District #1 was held Wednesday night at the Buffalo High School Auditorium.

Charles Auzqui, who is the current Superintendent and K-12 Principal with Sheridan County School District #3, spoke about growing up and attending schools in the Buffalo area and his experience during his years as an educator in Wright and in Clearmont.

He told those attending that he is not looking at the position as a “stepping stone” to somewhere else, but as a long-term destination in a dream job.

Auzqui said he will do what is best for the kids and will be transparent in the process.

He believes it takes a team effort with the school board, staff and administration, and the community to achieve and maintain excellence in the school district.

Although the school board has not set a specific date for hiring a new superintendent, they do have special meetings scheduled this week for executive sessions concerning personnel issues.
