Pat BlairTwo Ucross Fellows and an award co-director will be featured in Ucross Spotlight, to be presented live via Zoom and on Ucross’s Facebook page next week.
The event will start at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 22.
Featured artists will be Natalia Trigo, 2021 Ucross Fellow and 2019 winner of the Aura Estrada Prize; Francisco Goldman, three-time Ucross Fellow and founder of the Aura Estrada Prize; and Gabriela Jauregui, co-director of the Aura Estrada Prize as well as a writer, editor and translator.
Ucross Spotlight is a nationwide series of artist-centric events designed to highlight Ucross alumni, their work and their contribution to the nation’s arts and letters.
Trigo is a Mexican writer and researcher and received a PhD in creative writing in Spanish from the University of Houston, the first program of its kind in the United States. She specializes in bilingual creative writing, immigration literature and literature fronteriza and has taught in institutions in Mexico and the United States.
Goldman is an award-winning author whose books have been published in 16 languages. His latest novel, “Monkey Boy,” will be released in May by Grove Atlantic. He founded and co-directs the Aura Estrada Prize.
Jauregui holds a PhD in comparative literature from the University of Southern California, an MFA in creative writing from the University of California Riverside and an MA in comparative literature and critical theory from the University of California Irvine. She is on the Bogota39 list of most promising Latin American authors and teaches at UNAM.
