Ron RichterThe City of Sheridan and the local firefighters union IAFF #276 have worked out a new process for collective bargaining this year. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The process to negotiate a contract between the City and the local firefighters union for the upcoming fiscal year has begun as late last month the union submitted a letter to the City requesting that they enter into negotiations. Both sides have agreed to postpone negotiations until after the current legislative session in Cheyenne so that the City has a dollar amount in regards to direct distribution funds that are allocated by the Legislature to local governments in Wyoming. Firefighters Union President Jerry Johnston discussed the new negotiating process that will take place this year.
City Human Resources Director Heather Doke outlined the 2021 collective bargaining process.
Once the Legislature convenes in early April, both sides will resume the negotiation process. The contract will either be for one or two years in length. The current contract with the firefighters union runs through June 30 of this year.
