The Johnson County Senior Citizen Services Special District Board held their meeting for January on Monday, and continued with setting up the newly-approved district to begin moving forward.

During their Monday meeting, the board was scheduled to discuss bylaws and legal requirements with County Deputy Attorney Barry Crago, but he was unable to attend the meeting beacause he was returning from Cheyenne, according to discussions.

The board members will compile questions for Crago concerning by-laws and other legal issues for him to review and discuss at their next meeting.

Also discussed were revenue projections, cash flow and bonding requirements for the board members themselves with County Treasurer Carla Bishop.

She explained how the county receives its revenue and then how the county distributes funding to the special districts, which now includes the Senior Citizen Special District.

Policies and procedures were also discussed by the board, and looked at samples of other organizations’ policies and procedures to get an idea of how to proceed with their own.

The next meeting of the Senior Citizen Services Special District Board will be Monday, February 1st.
