A sentencing hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for a man convicted of distributing methamphetamine in the Sheridan area. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Prison Sentence

On August 12 of this year, a jury in District Court in Sheridan found 37-year-old Brandon Hanni “guilty” of one count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine, and one count of Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine. Hanni’s trial was the first jury trial held in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan since the pandemic began in March.

In August of 2019, Hanni was arrested and charged with the crimes following a lengthy investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, with assistance from the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, Sheridan Police Department and Wyoming Highway Patrol, into a group of individuals involved in the distribution of methamphetamine in the Sheridan area.

After hearing arguments and recommendations from the defense and prosecution at Thursday’s hearing, District Court Judge John Fenn sentenced Hanni to 1 ½ to 3 years in prison and ordered him to pay $560 in various court costs and fees. Hanni was also given credit for 197 days of time served.
