The Bureau of Land Management released the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Wyoming Pipeline Corridor Initiative, a proposal from the State of Wyoming that seeks to designate almost 2,000 miles of pipeline corridors across private, state, and BLM-managed lands in Wyoming. The publication begins a 30-day public availability period and 60-day Governor’s consistency review. The BLM will not issue a Record of Decision until the availability period and consistency review are complete.

The Final Environmental Impact Statement identifies a range of alternatives and includes Alternative E, the agency’s preferred alternative. Alternative E, which was developed following extensive review and consideration of public comments received on the Draft EIS, combines analysis from alternatives B & D from the Draft EIS.

The WPCI project would designate a statewide pipeline corridor network for future development of pipelines associated with carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), as well as pipelines and facilities associated with Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). The project will not authorize any new pipelines or construction but may amend several BLM Resource Management Plans covering the 1,111 miles of WPCI energy corridors located on public lands managed by the agency.

“BLM staff worked closely with the State of Wyoming to complete this document and develop the preferred alternative,” BLM Wyoming Acting State Director Kim Liebhauser said. “I want to thank everyone who commented on the Draft EIS and provided BLM and the State of Wyoming with valuable information.”
