Members of the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority joint powers board – called SEEDA – took time during a recent retreat at Sheridan College to examine SEEDA’s role in economic development.

SEEDA Administrator Robert Briggs talked about what has come out of that meeting.

He said the opportunities created would be for business investments both large and small throughout the community.

Briggs said his goal is to have a proposal prepared for the board to consider at the next SEEDA meeting.

The SEEDA board was created in 2007, originally as a partnership of the city of Sheridan, the Northern Wyoming Community College District and Sheridan County School District 2.

In 2014, the school district withdrew from the partnership, but the college district and city continue to work together, collaborating on the financing and development of capital projects, workforce training and job creation initiatives in Sheridan County.

Briggs said the board is set up so that the city and college are equal partners.
