Whitney Day this Friday at Sheridan College

Edward A. Whitney dedicated his life and legacy to supporting higher education in Sheridan County. Whitney Day at Sheridan College is this Friday, Sept. 18 and features a full day of events aimed at educating students, staff and the Sheridan community about Whitney’s positive impact on education and to celebrate his legacy, according to a press release from Sheridan County Community College.

“We take this time each September to learn about the man whose incredible generosity and vision has made so much possible here at Sheridan College,” President Dr. Walt Tribley said. “The day includes a combination of informative, educational and fun events.” 

Sheridan College students have and will always benefit from Whitney’s vision and generosity. Whitney Benefits, Inc., the foundation built from Whitney’s estate, has been instrumental in the success of Sheridan College. 

Events open to the public include:

12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Walk With Whitney – Explore the Trails – Malcolm Wallop Park 

2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Take and Paint – Thorne-Rider Campus Center

6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Dawson Hallow Concert – Whitney Mall
