Trial for Triple Murder Suspect Rescheduled

The trial for Dana Beartusk, who is charged with three counts of First Degree Murder, has been rescheduled for the week of April 19, 2021. The five-day trial had been scheduled to begin on Monday, September 28. At a pretrial conference hearing this week in Fourth Judicial District Court, Beartusk’s attorney Marty Scott requested that the trial be postponed so that the defense could have additional time to examine the information that’s been provided by the prosecution.
Sheridan County Attorney Dianna Bennett stated at the hearing that she would like to have the opportunity to reconsider seeking the death penalty in the case. Beartusk was charged with the crimes for allegedly killing three family members in Big Horn during the evening hours of Sunday, March 29 of this year. Each count of First Degree Murder is punishable by death, life in prison without parole, or life in prison according to law.
