Keeping Students and Staff Safe

Schools around Wyoming are set to open for the start of the school year, and health officials with the Wyoming Department of Health will be closely monitoring the situation amidst the pandemic. State Health Officer Dr. Alexia Harrist recently said that she expects to see cases of COVID-19 in students and staff over time, but that she doesn’t expect an overall increase in cases that is directly caused by or connected to schools.
Dr. Harrist said that it is important to remember that students and staff can be exposed to the virus outside of the schools and that we can all do our part to help keep schools safe and open by continuing to take the simple steps that they’ve been asking people to take all along to prevent spread within the community; physical distancing, wearing facemasks, and staying home when you’re sick.
Sheridan County School District Two will begin classes Tuesday, August 25, and School District One will begin their school year Monday, August 24. Sheridan County School District Three began their school year earlier this week.
