An update on the Waddle Creek Fire in northeastern Sheridan County was released by the Sheridan County Commission Thursday morning.

According to the release, the smoke in the air in Sheridan County is coming from the large fires in California and the west.

There was some internal burning Wednesday but no large plumes of smoke from the Waddle Creek Fire.

The 25,600 acre-fire, which started Monday afternoon, is now 85% contained.

The fire is currently on mostly private lands with some amounts of State and BLM lands involved.

Six units will be on-site today, monitoring and mopping up with the hope the fire will be 100% contained by the end of the day Thursday.

If all goes well the engines from Wyoming State Forestry and Johnson and Fremont Counties will be released at end of shift today, and the fire will be returned to the landowners.

Partial Fire Restrictions remain in place in Sheridan County and can be found at www.sheridancounty.com/depts/fire-protection-districts/
