A sentencing hearing was held virtually Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 20-year-old Trace Koetting of Sheridan for the charge of Third Degree Sexual Abuse of a Minor. District Court Judge John Fenn accepted the terms of the plea agreement that was reached with the State and placed Koetting on Deferred Prosecution and three years of supervised probation.

Judge Fenn also ordered Koetting to pay $320 in various court costs and fees. Koetting was credited with 15 days of presentence confinement and must pay at least $40 a month on the court costs beginning September 1. The crime occurred on November 26 of last year when Koetting had sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl.

Get it right, people. He did not “have sexual relations” with a young teenage girl. He is an adult and it was rape. This is also just another example of the deplorable injustice system we have when it comes to sexual assault.
