County budget hearing set for July 20

Sheridan County commissioners will convene a public hearing at 5 p.m. July 20 to present the budget for the fiscal year that started on July 1.

The hearing is open to all county residents and will be followed by adoption of the budget at a meeting starting at 9 a.m. July 21. Both meetings will be on the second floor of the Sheridan County Courthouse.

The general fund budget for the year ahead includes expenditures of just over $16 million, balanced by revenues of slightly over $14.86 million plus just under $1.2 million in cash reserves.

Also in the budget are just over $2.5 million in revenues from special funds, including an estimated $1.77 million from the county’s 1 percent optional tax.
