SCSD#1 Board Recognizes Championship Team
SCSD#1 Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, May 12, in Big Horn. First on the agenda was recognitions, and the board recognized the State Champions BHHS Speech and Debate Team. Ryan Fuhrman, Principal Big Horn High School, talked about the team and introduced Dustin Olsen, team coach.
Several of the Speech and Debate Team members attended the meeting, and Olsen had this to say about his team.
He talked about senior Emmie Ramsbur, who has won four championships in four years. He asked what her thoughts were, since this was her last year at BHHS.
Fred Hollingshead CSVA (Cowboy State Virtual Academy) Director gave a report to the board about what the academy is doing,
One parent, Raechel Soronson, whose students Tryan and Laney are enrolled in CSVA, attended the meeting. She expressed her gratitude for the flexible scheduling in the academy, saying that one of her children had an auto immune disease and needed the flexible schedule.

The two student representatives, Seniors Erika Stutzman, TRHS and Walker Mitchell, BHHS, were at the meeting and Board Chairman Clint Krumm asked each of them to brag a little bit about themselves, and what their future plans were after graduation.

Mitchell:
Stutzman added,

Chairman Krumm presented each of the students with their name plate and a card thanking them for attending the meetings and keeping the board updated on what was happening in each of the high schools in SCSD#1.
He added that he wanted to touch base with them in five years’ time, to ask them how well the schools prepared them for success as adults.
In other business, the board voted to approve 2026-27 classified staff renewals, adopted the salary schedules for the upcoming year, accepted the proposed preliminary budget and approved the bid for generator installation.
